Sunday Supernaturally: The Weapons of Our Warfare

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 ESV

If you’re at all like me, you have watched in horror this last week as Afghanistan has imploded.  No matter what you think of the war itself, watching the terror and brutality is disturbing.  As an American who loves his country, the implications are sad and infuriating at the same time.  One thing many of us share is a sense of betrayal, accompanied by a feeling of impotence, powerlessness to do anything to lessen the damage.  Thank God, we can intervene in the spirit realm by using the weapons at our disposal.

  • The Word of God.  Take the sword of the Spirit by speaking the Word of God out loud over the situation.  Angels are listening.  Give them their assignments. Ephesians 6:17  / Psalm 103:20 / Hebrews 1:14
  • Praying in the Spirit.  This allows the Spirit of God to pray through you, using your mouth and the authority that is yours as a believer to pray for things you don’t know about.  Ephesians 6:18 / Romans 8:26-28
  • The Name of Jesus.  There is no magic in those 5 letters, but there is authority in the Person they invoke.  He has given us authority to speak in His Name.  Speak to the mountains of brutality and persecution and fear in that land and command they bow their knee.  Mark 11:23 / Philippians 2:9-11.
  • The power of agreement.  As we go to our various places of worship today, let’s join our Christian family around the world in praying for the precious lives in that dark place.  God loves every person involved.  Light, life, love.  Shake it up. Lord!  Genesis 11:6 / Matthew 18:18-20 / Acts 4:23-31

And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.

2 Thessalonians 3:2 NIV
