Update from Pastor Virgil

Moving Christians from the pew to the harvest.” Matthew 9:36-38

October 6, 2021

We are privileged to work with you.

Thank you for making it possible for us to carry out the call. We are making an impact together. A little history: 23 years ago, the Lord gave me a vision concerning Mexico. I saw a glistening cloud, I knew it was His glory, rolling south from the Mexican border. The message He gave me was that He was going to bring revival rolling south from the border. Our assignment would be to train shepherds to take care of the sheep. We have been doing that ever since.

If you’ve known us long, you will be aware that we have always had a propensity for broken people and out of the way places. We haven’t changed. Our focus is on churches that are sincere, but humble. We want to make quality training materials available that are doctrinally sound and accessible to regular people. We’ve gotten pretty good at it. We’ve always aimed at enabling local pastors to begin training people in their own church and, if they wish, connecting to our network for certification of their learning through a system of evaluation and accountability.

Now, for the first time, we are enabling the launch of an onsite bible school that is constituted from more than one church. Our group in Hermosillo will begin classes on October 14th with the faculty composed of graduates from the classes we have taught there over the last 2 decades. Three churches are providing instructors, and we hope to see several churches support the effort by sending students. Joyce Hughes, Azucena Hughes, and Brenda Mangen from our Tucson team are joining me for the initial class on the 14th. We will encourage the new students and lay hands on our new faculty members to launch them into this next season of growth. Pray for the launch of IEMFe Hermosillo.

Second Level Classes: On September 25th we completed the Level 2 course called “Andando en el Espiritu” in Hermosillo. 56 students were registered, including 16 pastors. This course emphasizes learning to recognize and follow the working of the Holy Spirit in the believer. It’s good stuff, and it’s required for all 2nd level students. I was amazed at the ability of students to hang in for the 4 days of classes. It was very hot, but they (and I) made it. Thanks for your prayers.

The plan is that I will teach the upper level classes 3 or 4 per year, while the first level is being taught at the local Bible school. This is a great new phase in our project.

We continue to develop new ways to get the material into churches. Using Zoom and some of our graduates, we are now mentoring pastors in the Mexico City area and in Mexicali. Our graduates are doing really good stuff.

Top Left: Eduardo Andrade with 7 men from the rehab, instructed and ready for baptism.

Top Right: Pastora Guadalupe Perez mentoring from house to house in the Nezahualcoyotl area.

Bottom Left: Rosa Garcia taught the women at La Senda Antigua (Pastor David Aleman)

Bottom Right: Our hungry students intently listening to a lesson on the chastening of the Lord.

Etc.

  • Peru: We start a month of Zoom classes on the gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit in November.
  • Panamá: The Ayuda Para Sanar radio broadcast continues en Estereo Vida Darién. I am scheduled to go to Panama in March to teach on Church Government. (How to Run a Sheep Shed ) Pray that the pandemic is out of the way.
