Building People of Substance for Works of Power
Stay in the flow, Friend.
“You’ve read where it said, “Many are called but few are chosen.” The choice is determined by the filter, and many who are called have been filtered out. The filter is composed, generally speaking, of pride, sloth, and greed. For those who don’t fulfill the plan and the call of God, it is often because of pride and a refusal to be corrected, sloth and a refusal to discipline the flesh, and greed with a desire for increase for one’s own uses and purposes. Those things prevent you from fulfilling the call and the plan. It’s not a problem with the call, it’s a problem with the callee. But the Caller is able. I said, the Caller is able. The Caller is able, ha ha, to fulfill that which He placed in your heart, if you’ll get out of the filter and into the flow.” Prophetic word given Sunday, August 18 at FCF Tucson
I don’t usually publish prophetic utterances, but I can’t get this one off my mind. One of my joys is being able to help others fulfill their mission in life. One of the saddest things is watching those who never do. This was a little different take for me, but it rang true, describing three snags that catch us up in the lint filter of life and hold us out of the flow:
· Pride: Pride refuses correction, because it is already correct. The man who cannot be corrected will stay on the wrong path until the crash. Pro 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. When you see pride, look further down the road, destruction is close behind.
· Sloth: I remember years ago, the Spirit of God said to me, “the only way to develop self-discipline is to discipline yourself.” No one can do it for me, and it is hard work. It is also the difference between success and failure. I don’t feel like getting up to pray, sitting down to study, reading to edify my heart, or exercising to keep my body in line. Sloth yields to feeling; excellence is strangled.
· Greed: Jesus said that riches are deceitful. It is easy to forget that when riches are our motive we are headed for destruction. Some crash and burn because they allow money to be their God. Others never step out because they think they must have finances in hand before they begin. Both are greed. We prosper for a purpose. Follow the purpose and the finances will follow.
Somebody Said: The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.Vince Lombardi
Scripture Reading: It’s not that I’ve already reached the goal or have already completed the course. But I run to win that which Jesus Christ has already won for me. (Php 3:12 GW)
I don’t know about you, but I am determined to finish this race with joy. I don’t want to just barely get by and limp into heaven. I sure don’t want to get hung up in the filter and get held out of the flow. The Caller is able!
