One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you. For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
Romans 1:10-12 NLT
It’s another Sunday, and I am eagerly anticipating getting together with my church family. Paul felt the same way. He knew that there are some things you just can’t do in a letter or, in our case, on a Facebook post, a text, or a 15-second Instagram video for the perceptually truncated. He saw the gathering of the saints as an opportunity. He prayed earnestly that he might not miss out on it. Why?
When we gather, we all bring our gifts. With these gifts we impart something to others. Not teach, but impart. Everyone I bump into at church has the capacity to impart something to me if I will be attentive to the Spirit. This is a spiritual thing, and it requires personal presence. Note that the outcome of this impartation is strength in the Lord. It’s a spiritual reality that’s caught by contact. Another spiritual reality is that when we gather with people of faith, it increases the faith of everybody involved. It just happens in a faith-filled environment. It’s catching.
So, let’s turn up our expectation and go. Let’s give and get impartations and encouragement. It’s Sunday, day of opportunity!!!!!
