Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!’ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” And Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the temple. So when He had looked around at all things, as the hour was already late, He went out to Bethany with the twelve.
Mark 11:9-11 NKJV

What a great day! Palm Sunday, the celebration of Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Enjoy the party! Notice also that after the parade and the uproar, Jesus went into the temple and looked around at all things, then He want back to Bethany for the night. The next day he came to town again, this time cursing the fig tree along the way because it bore no fruit. Then He visited the temple. I’m thinking some of the things He saw when He looked around the day before were not pleasing to Him. Indeed, He took this opportunity to clean the money-changers from the temple.
After the celebration today, don’t forget to look around your life. This next week is a great time to speak to the areas in your life that, like the fig tree, are not bearing fruit. Whether it’s activities, relationships, or expenses, if it’s not moving you toward Christ-likeness, then it probably needs to go. Take a moment to look at the things that are defiling your temple. Jesus cast out the covetousness of the money changers. What do you need to kick out that is sullying the well-being and holiness of your temple? What is holding you back from fulfilling your purpose? Don’t let anything stand in the way of living and worshiping as you were designed. It’s Holy Week. Use it.
