I just can’ help but take time to crow a little bit. Yesterday I had the privilege of presiding over the graduation of 22 students from the Instituto de Entrenamiento Ministerial de Fe (Faith Ministry Training Institute) program in Hermosillo, Sonora. It was a joy to be part of this project. The churches in the organization that sponsors the program have made a genuine commitment to training their people to know what they believe and why they believe it. They are committed to a discipleship that moves people to action in service to others. It’s a joy to work with them and help them become more and more effective in this quest.
As you head for church this morning, ask yourself, “Why am sitting in this seat?” The plan of God is quite clear here in 2 Timothy. God gave revelation of Jesus Christ to Paul. He gave it to Timothy (among others). He commissioned Timothy to teach it to others so that they could teach it to still others. Do you see the plan? It’s the ultimate pyramid scheme, except that there is no point where the increase stops. God wants you in the pew in order to get you out of the pew.
