And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.
1 John 4:14-17 ESV
The last Sunday before Christmas. What a weird year this has been. Now, at Christmas, the weirdness seems emphasized. The malls are almost out of business. Santa is behind plexiglass. Christians are calling each other names on Facebook over whether to wear a mask or not. (Censor that, Mr. Zuckerberg!) Churches are closed, but casinos are open. The election is still in a turmoil. The Chinese are on the move and the Russians have hacked our nuclear weapon agency. Peace is springing up in the Middle east and it makes people mad. Boys and girls now think they have interchangeable parts, and it’s illegal to point out that they are wrong. Ho hum. It’s 2020.
I don’t know much, but I know Jesus is Lord. I know He came to save you and me. I know we can rely on God’s love because we know what Jesus did. Because I know that, I know that same love lives in you and me. We can love each other because of Jesus, not because of political affiliation. We can have hope for the future for the same, the only, reason. I know that we are here on earth as the sole physical yet supernatural representation of the love of God in the earth. If they can’t see Jesus in us, they will never want to live among us. For at least this week, let’s live like Jesus really came to die for us, and that He lives to provide for us. My little children, love one another. Merry Christmas!!!!!
