Sunday Supernaturally: How Much More?

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Matthew 7:11 NKJV

As part of my preparation for a teaching project on asking good questions, I started through the Gospels looking at the questions Jesus asked His followers.  He was a very probing questioner.  In most instances, He was attempting to get people to question assumptions: “Can you grow one inch by worrying?  “How much more valuable are you than the birds?  “Have I been so long with you, and you still don’t know me?  Think about it!

In that process I stopped again at this question about the Father’s love in the Sermon on the mount:  How much more will your Heavenly Father give you than what you would give your children.  How much more?  How much better is God’s parenting than yours?  How much greater is God’s vision than yours?  How much greater is His ability than yours?  No matter how great yours is, His is much more.  Your only job in this verse is to ask Him.

I want to challenge you today as we go to the assembly of the saints, what are your expectations?  What do you believe you will receive in the service?  What do you think God wants for you in this holy assembly?  Whatever your current expectations, stretch a bit and ask for more.  How much more?  More than you can imagine.   He is able and willing. Lord, save, heal, deliver, teach, encourage, and transform.  And much more!
