Healing Help Video 67: The 1st Corinthians 5 Problem

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife!   2  And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you.   3  For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed.   4  In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,   5  deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1 Corinthians 5:1-5 NKJV

We have looked at how to choose a place to connect, then get connected. Now it’s time to mobilize what we’ve learned to bring us to another level of the life of faith:  The New Testament describes an experience that few of us have known.  Today we are looking  at some things about prayer for one another that will revolutionize your life and your church.  Don’t miss it!

These people had to have a special meeting to allow the devil to attack this man who was living in open sin. “Most of our prayer meetings are dedicated to getting the devil off people, since our prayer lives are so shallow that we are all pretty much on our own in fighting the enemy.  When we fail and allow sin into our lives, Satan just hammers us at his leisure.”  (You Are a Keeper!  p. 49)

The passage in 1 Corinthians reflects a level of connection in the spirit realm that we’ve almost completely lost.  In our day, church membership, if it exists at all, consists in completing a class and receiving a card.  People change churches as a matter of personal preference or pique.  It never occurs to them that they are removing themselves from a covenant commitment that provides them with supernatural protection from the onslaught of the enemy.  We’ve lost the practice and the power of what I have dubbed connected, covenant prayer.  Today, we start reclaiming what belongs to us!
