Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews 13:20-21 ESV
It’s another glorious Sunday. We get to gather with the saints and be encouraged, challenged, and equipped. As I prayed about today, I was reminded of this little benedictory prayer in Hebrews. It’s packed full of good stuff that we can apply in our own prayers for one another today:
- We appeal to God the Father. We do it through the resurrected Jesus who is our shepherd, and we base it on the covenant which He ratified with His own blood. This is a big deal. (John 16:23-27)
- Our prayer is that each one will be equipped with everything they need to do good and obey God. (Ephesians 4:11-16)
- We pray for us, all of us, that we will cooperate with His working in us so we can please Him. (Philippians 2:12-13)
- Our goal is that Jesus Christ will be glorified. (Jude 1:24-25)
Today is a big chance to do something eternal. Let’s pray that God works these things in our gathering.
