Sunday Supernaturally: Two Guys Singin’

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.

Acts 16:25-26 ESV

This story has always been a great encouragement to me. These two are in a rough spot – beaten, imprisoned, and bound. Instead of whining and crying, they made a decision to pray and sing. The result was deliverance for them and for all the other prisoners, too. I think we forget the power of two believers who get in agreement and sing praises to our God. Two guys singin’ set a whole building free.

Wherever you’re going to church today (I trust you are), there will be others there who are in darkness and bondage. They may look good on the outside, but they are miserable on the inside. They need a suddenly from God. If you make a decision, the Lord will make a difference. Don’t just go through the motions as the pastor leads in prayer. Let your singing be more than a sing-along. Adjust your heart and raise your voice and sing hymns to God. Others will join in, I promise. It just might be the onset of a “suddenly.”
