2013 will mark the centennial of the federal income tax. The ratification of the 16th Amendment released the federal govrnment to directly tax individual income for the first time. They have relished the charge. We are about to experience Justice Marshall’s words in a profound way as Congress and the Executive Branch celebrate the birthday of the 16th Amendment by seeing how much of the private economy they can destroy. If I am being represented in this debate I am unaware of it. How about you?
