Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:3-4 NKJV)
Thinking about baptisms tomorrow. Paul thought there were some things we should know, the primary one being that baptism is our place of union with the Lord in His death and resurrection. The words that grab my heart here are “just as.” The same glory that raised Christ from the dead now empowers my life. I have the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit in me and on me, not just on Sunday with goose-bumps, but on Monday with life-bumps. I’m pretty sure I don’t grasp all that’s included in that notion, but I am determined to push on to live as much of it as I can get my heart around. (My head may never catch up this side of Heaven) How ’bout you?
