Every Sunday each of you must put aside some money, in proportion to what you have earned, and save it up, so that there will be no need to collect money when I come.
1 Corinthians 16:2 GNB

Another glorious Sunday. We get to go to church! We make it a point to prepare for a service by deciding ahead of time what we’re going to give. It just takes a moment, and it’s worth it. This simple note from Paul to the Corinthians concerning a special offering gave them a reminder to be intentional, regular, and proportional.
Here’s my personal formula. Every week, on Sunday, the first ten percent goes to the local church. Period. Done. No questions. (if I’m out of town, it still goes to my local church) In addition, if there are offerings to be taken for missions, or buildings, or special speakers, I pray and discuss with my wife what we want to sow. (We also give to missions privately as the Lord leads us) Seed is good. It produces fruit. In addition, each week I get a specific amount of cash to carry in my wallet. This is purely so that I will have money to give as I see people in need in the world around me. Most folks on the street don’t take a debit card or have a giving app, so I carry cash just for gifts.
Have a great Sunday. Worship on purpose, fellowship on purpose, receive the Word on purpose, and give on purpose. God will certainly bless you on purpose.
