For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:23-25 NKJV
Today’s topic is how to be a doer of the Word. Acting on your faith is not something you do to convince God that you believe. He already knows. The works of faith are a result of having believed. God didn’t promise to heal you if you don’t take medicine or go to the doctor. He said He had already provided your healing. You don’t have to earn it. There have been many human-inspired ways of being doers of the Word: not going to doctors, throwing away medicine…. But if we look at James in context, we see three ways we can be doers of the Word
- Follow the instructions in the Word.
- Act in love.
- Listen to the Holy Spirit.
