Pastor Virgil. 3/9/22 Report

Moving Christians from the pew to the harvest.” Matthew 9:36-38

God is moving!

We were born for such a time as this. Don’t take your eye off the ball.

As the Russians were rolling into Ukraine, I was in Mexico, rolling into Hermosillo. We had 43 students registered for the 2nd Level course, “Spirit-filled Ministry.” The first night was three hours of instruction about ministerial ethics and integrity. This was tough stuff, but the students were hungry for it, and the anointing to teach was strong.

Saturday morning, we began to teach on recognizing and following the flow of the Spirit in our services. Part of being Spirit-filled Christians is enjoying the manifestation of the Spirit when we gather. When we allow subjective experience to be shared in our midst, we need protections in place to maintain order without quenching the Spirit. Let all things be done decently and in order. (1Co 14:40 NKJV) Tough subject!

In the first hour I was talking about the willingness to follow the Spirit as He leads me, even if it’s different from my tradition or the methods of others. I experienced a sudden jolt of anointing coming on me to minister to the sick, that electric tingle that starts in the belly and flows out to the hands. My interpreter looked at me wide-eyed as he felt it, too. I guess I’m still human, because I didn’t go with that flow. I wanted to get through the material, and I knew if we stopped and prayed for people it would take too long. God, forgive me for being stupid.

As the day progressed, that anointing was always just right there. I don’t know how to describe it, but it was like something was hovering over us. At the end of the fourth hour of teaching, I finally stopped and said, “OK. Let’s demonstrate by praying for the sick.” As soon as the words came out of my mouth, the anointing hit me, and I thought I would fall over. I felt as if power was surging through my body in waves. At one point my interpreter thought I was going to fall backward. He tried to put his hand on my back to steady me but was unable to touch me as the power pushed him back.

The Presence was thick. People were speechless, many having never experienced such a move. One lady asked me “What was that?” Another said, “I always believed in the Holy Spirit, but He was out there somewhere. Today, He is right here with me.” People just stayed and worshipped and basked in the presence well after the ministry was done. When you can’t get people to leave after nearly 5 hours of class, something special has occurred.

My point is that I believe there has been a turning point in the Spirit. Be sensitive to His touch and He will move in power in our services. The tests we face are great, the power of God is greater. Expect!

Instituto de Entrenamiento Ministerial de Fe:

The team in Hermosillo is teaching the “Christian Character for Ministry” course and the response has been excellent. One of the pastors in the class who comes from a small village is then teaching it to his people in a home study. They are doing homework and growing with their pastor. This is how it is supposed to work!

We have begun the process of recording the “Church Government” course. The course outlines have been translated thanks to Vanessa Valenzuela. My plan is to start a YouTube channel that will house all our 2nd level classes with Spanish interpretation. am starting the process of recording the classes on Church Government with Spanish interpretation. Pray for my interpreter as he deals with unfamiliar material, and for the reliability of our internet connections.

Leaders Growing Leaders: Our monthly leadership meetings via Zoom resumed in February. I was a bit apprehensive since we missed January, but turnout was great. 18 pastors and ministers tuned in and participated. The pandemic has taught us to do things that are making a positive impact.
