Sunday Supernaturally: See the Gift

He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching.

Mark 6:1-6 ESV

Wherever you attend church today (You are going, aren’t you?) don’t hinder the flow of miracles by your unbelief.  Specifically, don’t let your familiarity with the person in the pulpit keep you from seeing the gift within. This week, I’ve been in a conference with 6 other ministers sharing the speaking duties. I know all of them, four of them for over a decade. Some of them refer to me as their pastor. Each one brought something that blessed and helped me.  I opened my bible and took notes on every message. Why? Because God set gifts in the church, and if a gift is from God, I want to receive from it.

Today, be aware that what you know about someone in the natural can cloud your eyes and keep you from seeing the gift of God. Don’t let the voices in your head drown out the impartation God is trying to make to your spirit. Whoever is preaching to you today, listen for the Spirit in the message.  Don’t listen to the accent or the grammar or remember the cute stories you heard about him from his mom. Jesus said that if He sent someone, then we should receive them as if it were Him. Pray up, use your faith, and hear from Heaven. These gifts are too good to undervalue.
