As history zooms by us every day, it is good to pause a minute to reflect on why this nation is such a big deal: We are loyal to an idea, not to geography or genealogy. We have no kings but God. From Him proceed our rughts, and we are all equal before Him. Our founding documents promise us that we maintain these rights even when the majority is against them. That is what our constitutuonal republic is all about. Today I pray that God renew this one, or swiiftly bring to an end the agonies of its demise. Thank God for the idea and the grace to preserve it.
