Sunday Supernaturally: Getting Better

Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed.

Ecclesiastes 10:10 NLT

I had the privilege this week to be in a training with a group of pastors and leaders from around the world.  The instruction was intense and lasted 8 to 10 hours a day for 3 and a half days.  These folks spent time and money and lots of effort for one purpose: to get better at serving Jesus Christ. The things we learned challenged and stretched us. Most of the folks in attendance have experienced some degree of success in ministry – they are in leadership positions and have been for many years, yet they are still pushing to get better, to do more.  It was a joy to be with them.

I tell you this because it is important to know that there are such people: Men and women who have dedicated themselves to constant improvement in service of the kingdom of God and His people. As another Sunday rolls around, I truly hope you have a pastor who has made that kind of dedication to his or her calling.  If you do, go to church today with an anticipation of tapping into the gift God has given. It’s not just another day to go through the motions.  It’s an opportunity to team with leaders of substance to accomplish the work of God.  Let’s go get better.
