So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14 NLT
Yesterday I had the joy of joining a bunch of folks from my home church in a visit to a local nursing facility. We walked the halls singing Christmas carols, giving gifts, and extending the hand of the LORD to a special population. When I got home, I had a message from a friend in Nogales with pictures of an event at a local church directed at neighborhood kids. They got a Christmas they didn’t expect. It’s good to see the Church leveraging the Christmas season to be a special blessing. What a great opportunity!

Today we get to gather in our local congregations. Most of us will be celebrating some aspect of the Christmas season. We celebrate the reality of the Word being made flesh and dwelling among us. It is an opportunity to rekindle the flame, to be reminded of who we are and why we’re here. We are the Word made flesh in our world. Let’s find ways to bless our world in unusual ways. They’re listening right now. Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas.
