Sunday Supernaturally: Merry Christmas

14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.  John 1:14

John 1:14 NLT

Three days before Christmas. We celebrate the first of the big three events that form the three corners of our redemption. God became flesh and dwelt among us. It was necessary to provide a perfect sacrifice for our sins. The finale came three days after the sacrifice when life overcame death and provision was made for changing us from death to life. For this week, just remember: No incarnation, no salvation. Merry Christmas.

As we go to church today, we will be in wood, brick, and mortar buildings. We will be surrounded by other, very human, worshipers. We will sing imperfectly, understand through a darkened glass, and obey to the best of our inadequate abilities. Yet, just like in Bethlehem, God will visit us in our humble condition. He will speak a Word into unlikely vessels, and lives will be changed for eternity. He works for, in, and through regular people. Merry Christmas!
