Sunday Supernaturally: He is Risen!

Okay.  It’s Easter.  So I got hung up yesterday reading all the verses in the New Testament about the resurrection and what it means.  I’m just going to share a few of them with you.  Have a wonderful Resurrection Day.

1. Jesus wanted his followers to know for sure that He is alive: “After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.  (Acts 1:3 NIV)”
2. The resurrection is of first importance: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,  (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NIV)”
3. The resurrection proves there will be judgment:  “For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”  (Acts 17:31 NIV)”
4. The resurrection brought healing:  “then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.  (Acts 4:10 NIV)”
5. The resurrection proves He is the Son of God:  “and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.  (Romans 1:4 NIV)”
6. His resurrection gives us righteousness:  “but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. (Romans 4:24-25 NIV)”
7. Faith in the resurrection is the entryway to salvation:  “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.  (Romans 10:9-10 NIV)”
8. His resurrection guarantees our resurrection:  “By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.  (1 Corinthians 6:14 NIV)”
9. His resurrection power gives us authority over spiritual evil: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.  (Ephesians 1:18-21 NIV)”
10.   His resurrection gives us the new birth and an eternal inheritance:  “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,  (1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV)”
11.   His resurrection tells us that He is coming again to  deliver us from God’s wrath: “for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.  (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 NIV)”
