Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.James 5:14-15 ESV
Notice in James 5:14, 15 This is the only place in the New Testament specifically directed to believers when they fall ill. Remember, the outcome was clearly expected to be positive: the prayer of faith WILL save the sick, and the Lord WILL raise him up. NO room for “maybe” here, no, “If it be thy will.” You call, they pray, God heals. If this is not happening as the rule in our churches, then we need to dig deeper, not give up!!!!!!!
It’s God’s plan that when someone is sick and healing doesn’t come, that they have the body of believers around them to surround them, protect them, pray over them. Call for the elders of YOUR church. That is what they would have understood when they heard this read. This tells me you need a church that is yours, and some elders who know how to pray. Not a TV preacher or your distant buddy – thank God for them. But God said to call for the elders of your church. You need to humble your faith-filled self and call for help. When your church sends someone to pray for you, receive it for what it is: God’s method for getting you healed!
