For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
1 Timothy 2:3-5 NKJV
One of the most frequent prayer requests I have received in the 4o plus years I have been doing this is, “Pray for me to know God’s will.” That’s a good prayer. We all should want to know the will of God for us. After talking to many people, I came to the conclusion that God may be waiting for us to do what He already said before He gives us something else. As the verses above tell us, it’s always His will for us to be involved in reaching others with the Gospel. If I’m not doing that by prayer, financial support, or direct service work, then I am out of the will of God.
Here are 3 more that are very clear:
- He wants you happy, prayerful, and grateful. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV)”
- He wants you living holy in your sexual behavior: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; (1 Thessalonians 4:3 NKJV)”
- He wants you living right to be a testimony to the people around you: “For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. (1 Peter 2:15-16 NKJV)”
As we head for church today, join me in making a fresh commitment to put the will of God in its proper place: FIRST!
