And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
1Th 5:12-13 NKJV
The New Testament repeatedly tells us to know, or recognize, the leaders who labor among us. Two important points:
- Our spiritual leaders are people who work hard at taking care of us
- They do so “among us.” That means we must have personal relationship.
It’s Sunday. Time to go to church. Get up and go somewhere that you know the leadership well enough to see how hard they work. Don’t try to substitute a few minutes of online devotions for real interaction with the people of God and the gifts He has set. The pandemic has slowly convinced many that they don’t need to go to church, they can listen online. that’s a tepid substitute for the real thing. Avail yourself of the blessing of a local church and a real pastor. If you don’t have one, find one. Make it a quest. Don’t submit to the digital delusion!
