who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:6 NKJV
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:4
But as it is written: “EYE HAS NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NOR HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
(1 Corinthians 2:9-10)
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:18
A preposition is a word governing, and usually preceding, a noun or pronoun and expressing a relation to another word or element in the clause. The word says it all. It comes before and tells the position of something relative to something else: a “pre + position”. I am in my office, sitting on my chair, positioned under my lamp.
With that definition in mind, I set about looking at some of the dozens of verses in the New Testament that contain prepositions that define the relationship between the believer and the Holy Spirit. I have included just a few. We are alive in the realm of, and by the action of, the Spirit. Therefore, we should learn to walk, to order our steps, in that realm. We are filled with the Spirit; He is inside us. Truth is revealed to us through, or by means of, the Spirit. We are led by the Spirit. I could go on, but you get the idea.
We live in His realm, have life that comes from Him, have Him filling us with Himself, see truths that He reveals, and are being directed by Him. We are people of the Spirit: we belong to Him. I am increasingly convinced that learning to be sensitive to Him in every situation is the singular key to living free and at peace in this fallen world. Knowledge in my head is nice; knowledge of Him who inhabits my heart is infinitely better.
Do you want to see miracles? Learn to pay attention to what the Spirit in you is saying. What does He want you to know? How does He want you to change? What does He want you to see? Whom does He want you to touch? Look, listen, obey.
