Sunday Supernaturally: Shepherds at Work

I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,” says the LORD.

Jeremiah 23:4 NKJV

Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

Acts 20:28 NKJV

In the last 10 days I have had the privilege of being in the company of pastors who love the Lord and love their flocks.  They showed up day after day to learn how to be better at what they do: shepherding the flock of God. Most of these pastors are not newcomers.  They have been in ministry for years, yet they are still striving to improve and grow.  There’s something moving about the dedication of a godly shepherd.

The Pastor’s office is near the heart of God.  Jesus boldly called Himself “the Good Shepherd” who gives His life for the sheep.  Peter referred to Him as “the Chief Shepherd.”  The writer of Hebrews called Him “that Great Shepherd of the sheep.”  Of all the ministry offices, shepherd seems the one most near and dear to the Lord. I pray that you have a shepherd who cares for you, who feeds you and guides you, and who prays for your spiritual growth.  As we head for church today, let’s take a moment to pray for and appreciate the gift of godly shepherds.
