Sunday Supernaturally: Bring a Gift

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Mal 3:10 ESV

Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Heb 13:15-16 ESV

The Bible talks repeatedly about bringing offerings to the house of God.  I know we live in a different world.  We have cell phone apps that can do financial transactions around the world in an instant.  We can send and offering while watching the service form our couch.  That’s a huge blessing.  But I still find a certain gratification in putting something in the offering basket at the church.  The physical act of “bringing”  feels like a substantive step of faith.

There are several things that God calls sacrifices or offerings that we can bring to Him in His house.  Certainly, our tithes and financial seed are included, but we can also bring a sacrifice of praise.  That means exactly what Hebrews called it: the fruit of our lips giving thanks.  We can bring our prayers (Revelation 5:8)  We can bring acts of kindness and blessing for others (Hebrews 13:16)  The point is, we can all bring something to the House of God.  Are you ready for church?  Grab your offering and bring it with you.  It’s pleasing to God and enriching for you.
