Guardrails for Guidance: Hearing God’s Voice in a Noisy World

If we are honest in our desire to please God, not self, our first step is to check our own heart. We’re all still human after all. Most of our thinking is about us. We all have our own experiences, needs, and desires. We naturally interpret things through those lenses. Because of this, a heart check may be in order.

People Need Purpose

One of the more common phrases in our Christian world is “I’m going to pray about it.” In this case we’re talking about praying about God’s direction and purpose for your life and ministry. So what does that mean? How do I “look out to see what he will say to me”?

Sunday Supernaturally: Clean the Atmosphere

Satan is a remarkably faithful member of most churches. One of his jobs is to distract, disrupt, and generally impede the flow of the Word and the Spirit. We don't have to allow him to succeed. Take a minute to clean house before every service.

Suddenly Supernaturally: No Worries?

Jesus put worry on the same short list as drunken revelry. It's been over 45 years since my last drink or drug, but it's hard to go 45 minutes without allowing my mind to slip into an obsessive repetition of "what if?” It's an intoxicant that hardens the heart to God and roils the emotions.

Sunday Supernaturally: Shaken and Stirred

Today is Sunday. Most of us say we want to see the Gospel preached with power and miracles performed in the name of Jesus. If these things are not happening, there are things you can do to help.

Lead a Life of Prayer

Paul repeatedly talked about constant prayer, but we tend to ignore it, reserving our "prayer time" for a few moments in the morning or on the drive to work. It’s time to rethink the instructions to ”pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), “be constant in prayer” (Romans 12:12), and “praying at all times in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18). Jesus is our example. We’re never alone, but we’re often out of touch. Lead a life of prayer.
