And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
Matthew 17:2-5 ESV
Thank God for times of being in His tangible presence. Whatever you call it, revival, renewal, refreshing, etc. we all need those glorious moments. In this passage, Jesus brought 3 guys with him to witness a momentous occasion. I’m praying for your service that you will experience three things that these men experienced on the mount:
- God’s manifest presence in such a measure that you won’t want to leave. No dashing out to get to lunch, just the desire to camp out in the glory.
- A fresh appreciation of who Jesus is. They knew He was the Son of God, but the Father saw fit to reemphasize that point. Sometimes we get so involved in daily life that we lose sight of Whom we are following.
- A fresh word from the Lord. “Listen to Him” is about the best advice anyone could receive. Whatever else happens in your church today, I pray you don’t leave without hearing from the Head.
It seems obvious to me that without a move of God, our nation is doomed. I believe He is moving, but His move always starts with His people. Let’s join in.
