In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Philippians 2:5-8 NIV
What a gift!
If you only go to church 2 days a year, please let this be one of them. It’s a big deal, this Incarnation thing. God humbled Himself. Think about that! He didn’t have to, but He did it so He could become an acceptable sacrifice for you. He made His entrance into flesh in the most modest of circumstances. I think He was trying to tell us that He will enter into our most trying situations and do whatever is necessary to walk us through it. The first entrance was a little deceptive, in that He didn’t look like a Messiah or a King, but just wait until you see the next one!
Whatever your plight, take time today to honor this gift of pure grace. Give Him His due by inviting Him into your moment. Let the infinite, eternal God join you in your temporary trouble. He is always, “God with us.”
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
Matthew 1:23 NIV
